What U Brought Home

about

"What U Brought Home" signals a conscious shift to moodier sounds and more modern electronic pop influences. Classic SGF influences are still deeply felt—from the "Little Red Corvette" allusions in the drum pattern to the busy acid bass line that propels the song forward—but the wounded romance of Jessie Ware and SBTRKT also bubble to the surface. "What U Brought Home" is also a return to self-production for us, taking the invaluable lessons learned from previous engineers Trevor Spencer and Randall Dunn and bringing them, in a sense, back home.

"What U Brought Home" is the first release of our 2016 Bandcamp singles project. While "What Brought U Home" navigates its way through the confusion and melancholy that signal the end of a broken relationship, we are signaling the beginning of a wonderful relationship with you.

lyrics

So you find
You're losing the fight

Enemies of
Living in your mind

You say you're getting better
You say you don't know
You say you're getting better
You say you don't know
I know you better
I know you better

You say you're getting better
You say you don't
You say you're getting better
You say you don't know
I know you better
I know you better

Puttin' aside your role
Are we getting better
I think you know

Come inside
Shadow I don't know

Memories of
Black jeans on the floor

You say you're getting better
You say you don't know
You say you're getting better
I don't know if this is better
I don't know what u brought home

You say you're getting better
You say you don't know
You say you're getting better
I don't know what u brought home
I don't know what u brought home

Capsize
We tried
I know
you

You say you're getting better
You say you don't know
You say you're getting better
I don't know what u brought home
I don't know what u brought home
